Segment 4:  My Co-Producer John Donovan and I had a fascinating discussion with Openfilm’s Brenda Nieborsky and Bart Weiss, Director of the Dallas Video Fest at the International Film Festival Summit in Las Vegas.  An online platform where independent filmmakers can distribute their work, Openfilm has quickly since its official launch last year.  Starting out as a film festival database for 30,000 members, Openfilm now develops film festival software and is about to launch a sponsorship network.  Then there’s the Get It Made Competition, which will be awarding a prize of 500k binannually to the winning filmmakers and is decided by their star studded advisory board made up of James Caan, Robert Duvall, Mark Rydell and Scott Caan.  Bart Weiss has been running the 24 hour Video Race in Dallas for over 10 years and spoke with us about how the technology has evolved since he launched the Festival.  He also shared his opinion about the use of mobile media in the future.  These two independent film supporters offer valuable information related to film distribution and new technologies on this Filmmakers Notebook Podcast.  Have fun getting to know them better in this interview and then check out their websites at www.openfilm.com and www.videofest.org.
