Segment 7:  The Arizona International Film Festival will be celebrating its 20th anniversary in April, 2011 with the assistance of Mia Schnaible, their Director of Marketing.  We talked about their upcoming milestone at the IFFS and then Mia shared many helpful suggestions regarding marketing films at festivals during this Filmmakers Notebook Podcast Interview.  She stressed the increased need for filmmakers to go out and promote their  projects, keeping in mind the increased competition for media and audience attention.  Find out why in her opinion the documentary “Wiener Takes All” was such a winner and the importance of posters, postcards and pounding the pavement once a movie is scheduled to be screened.  Mia also told my Co-Producer John Donovan and I which book she considers to be the best festival guide you can buy and why it’s important for filmmakers to “introduce yourself” and “bother the staff” once you arrive at an event   If you’re planning to submit a short or feature to any festival or already have, you’ll want to listen to Mia’s advice on this podcast, follow her on Twitter @AZFilmFest and check out what’s coming up for the Arizona International Film Festival’s big celebration at www.filmfestivalarizona.com
