The Viscera Film Festival, which highlights the work of female filmmakers exploring the dark side of the horror genre, came to Theatre7 the weekend of July 29-30 and Filmmakers Notebook had the pleasure of interviewing its’ founder, actress, director and writer Shannon Lark.  Perhaps best known by some as the first spokesmodel for Fangoria Magazine, the filmmaker came up with the idea in 2007 and ow the festival premieres in with a bloody carpet event in L.A. before touring throughout the United States and overseas.

Focused right now on featuring “intelligent horror movies” Shannon has great plans ahead for Viscera including offering films on DVD from the festival’s archives and establishing a mentoring program for young female filmmakers.  To find out more about this talented lady all you have to do is press play and listen.
