The 2010 Digital Video Expo takes place from September 28th through the 30th at the Pasadena Auditorium in Pasadena, CA.  Aside from the latest technology available in the exhibit hall, special offerings include:

Two days of 3D – Stereographer and U.S. based workflow consultant Gary Adcock leads a conference designed to cover the basic tools and needs required during the planning stages of stereo production.  It will also take a look at expectations during shooting and review delivery of the camera masters to post for editing and finishing.  An educational track, 3D rigs, monitoring onset, camera choices, 3D shooting basics and editing issues will all be examined.

Learn RED Post the Easy Way – If RED postproduction seems challenging this session will focus on a myriad of editing and finishing solutions for RED-acquired projects.  Designed for editors and producers ready to tackle their first RED project or who want to learn about their options using Avid, FCP, Premiere Pro, Color and Scratch.  Desktop workflows and solutions, best practices for dealing with RED files and working with outside post facilities will all be covered.  Participants scheduled to attend include: Michael Cioni (Light Iron Digital), Lucas Wilson (Assimilate), Terence Curren (Alphadogs), Greg Huson (Secret HQ) and Brian Hutchings (Independent Colorist).

All Day Lighting Workshop – Receive illumination and be educated at this one day intensive workshop focusing on the art and science of lighting for the digital age.  Beginning with fundamentals such as understanding light, color, how we see light, how cameras see light and the basics of capturing light for the moving image, the second part of the day offers demonstrations of lighting techniques on a live model.  This helps to explain lighting positions, light quality and control.  Finally, the final hours will offer discussion and demonstrations of advanced lighting techniques used in numerous situations.

The Rental and Staging Roadshow – Co-located at DV Expo is the Rental & Staging Roadshow Showcase, which offers free admittance to all attendees at certain times throughout the day on September 29th.

Apple Color Basics – The most sophisticated color correction and grading tool including with any editing package is Apple Color, but frequently users are confused when first getting started using the application.  Two sessions will be offered that will introduce beginning and intermediate Final Cut Editors to the basics of Color including “rooms”, color wheels and curves. They will explore the interface and how to use the application for color correction tasks.

Other special events at the Expo include:

3D Production in the Real World, Lighting Master Classes, Production Trends for 2011, Blackmagic Design Da Vinci Resolve for Mac 7.0 and the HDSLR Filmmaking Screening Series.
